United Methodist Churches Encouraged to Celebrate Scout Sunday

Congregations across the United Methodist Church are reminded to observe Scout Sunday, a special time set aside to recognize the ministry of Scouting and its impact on faith formation, leadership development, and service among young people.

Scout Sunday provides an opportunity for churches to celebrate Scouts, Scouters, and partnering congregations, and to lift up the long-standing partnership between Scouting ministries and The United Methodist Church. Many congregations will welcome Scouts in uniform, offer prayers for youth and leaders, and highlight the values of duty to God, service to others, and ethical leadership. It is an opportunity to invite Scouts to serve in the church’s worship.

Churches are encouraged to plan worship elements that recognize Scouts, acknowledge adult volunteers, and share how Scouting extends the congregation’s ministry to children, youth, and families.

Helpful planning resources, worship ideas, and promotional materials are available through the United Methodist Scouting Ministry at www.methodistscouter.org/2025/12/29/scout-sunday-resources-2026/

Additional support and information on men’s ministry and Scouting partnerships can be found through United Methodist Men at www.UMMen.org

By observing Scout Sunday, United Methodist congregations affirm their commitment to nurturing disciples of Jesus Christ through character-building programs that emphasize faith, service, and leadership.

Announcing the 2025 National Men’s & Scouting Gathering July 31 – August 3, 2025 | Epworth by the Sea | St. Simons Island, Georgia

A sacred gathering for men of faith and leaders in Scouting ministry.

As we look toward the summer of 2025, we invite you to mark your calendar and prepare your heart for a truly transformative event—the Men’s & Scouting National Gathering, taking place July 31 through August 3, 2025, at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island.

Nestled along Georgia’s coastal marshes, Epworth offers a peaceful setting where men can step away from the noise, reconnect with God, and be renewed for the journey ahead. Whether you are a long-time leader in men’s ministry or Scouting—or just beginning your walk in faith-based service—this gathering is for you.

But here’s the challenge we’re placing before every man:
Who are you bringing?

This event is not just about attending a powerful conference. It’s about multiplying the impact by inviting others into the experience. Who in your church, your unit, your circle of influence needs this? Who needs a fresh encounter with God, a place to rest and reset, or the encouragement of a brotherhood united in Christ?

Over the course of three days, participants will engage in:

  • Inspiring worship and preaching
  • Workshops focused on men’s discipleship, mental health, faith and leadership, and Scouting ministry
  • Time for rest, recreation, and spiritual reflection in nature
  • Meaningful conversations that spark new friendships and spiritual growth
  • Shared meals and moments of sacred fellowship

This is your opportunity to grow deeper in your own walk—and to help another man take a step in his. Don’t come alone. Be intentional. Be prayerful. Be bold in your invitation.

Scouting Ministries has new resources for Scout Sunday 2025

Scouting Ministries has new  resources for Scout Sunday 2025, aiming to enhance the community’s experience. Scout Sunday is a great opportunity for the church and the Scouts to meet.  It is the church’s premier opportunity to engage with the community. We open our doors to share time with the Scouts and their leaders. While many scouts are already part of the congregation, Scout Sunday encourages them to wear their uniforms in support of the Scouting Ministry. It gives them a place to serve and be engaged in their commitment to reverence.

To commemorate this unique investment in youth, the United Methodist Men have introduced the 2025 Scout Sunday Patch.  You can order the patch at https://ummen.org/umm-store/page/3/

Additionally, the website provides free access to 2025 Scout Sunday Liturgy resources to assist with your Scout Sunday.
